What are the free VIN checks?
Every account gets 2 free VIN checks a day. Checking a VIN tells you which map updates that exact car accepts, and what each one costs — you can do that without paying anything. The 2 reset every day, used or not; they do not build up. If you need more in one day, every top-up adds 5 more, and those do not expire. Buying the code itself is separate — that is what credits are for.
How do I know which head unit my Mercedes has?
You do not need to know. Type the 17-character VIN. The portal reads it from the Mercedes factory build record and shows only the maps that unit accepts — NTG 3.5 through NTG 7.
Is this the same code the Mercedes dealer gives, and is it safe for the car?
Yes, on both. It is exactly what you would get from a Mercedes-Benz main dealer — the same official activation code, tied to your VIN, the region and the map version, for the same car. The only difference is the price: ours is cheaper.
What do I need to install it?
A USB stick, a Windows laptop, and the map files for your head unit. We provide the official Mercedes map downloader free of charge, at
https://oemnavigations.download/mercedes/ — it runs on Windows only. You download the map with it and install it yourself.
Can I change my car to a different map region?
We sell map updates, not region changes. A region change requires a separate process with a diagnostic device, and it is not a service we currently offer. You can still buy a code for another region — only do it if you know what you are doing, because all sales are final.
Which head units are supported?
COMAND head units are supported. Audio and Becker Map Pilot updates are not. You do not have to work this out yourself — type the VIN and the portal shows you what that car accepts, if anything.
Will you help me if the USB stick or the download does not work?
No. You are paying for the map PIN code generation, not the map data itself, and we do not troubleshoot USB problems, map file problems or download problems. The code is guaranteed to work provided the parameters are correct: head unit, VIN, region and map version.
My car is a retrofit. Which VIN do I use?
The VIN of the car the head unit is installed in NOW — never the VIN of the donor car. If there is any doubt, read the VIN out of the ignition lock with a diagnostic device: that is the definitive source of truth.
Does the PIN code expire?
No. Once generated it can be used again at any time, as long as the inputs stay the same — head unit model, VIN, map region and map version.
Do credits expire?
No. They stay on your account until you use them.
What if a code fails to generate?
The credits go back automatically. You pay only for a code that was made. The failed attempt stays visible in your history.
Can I get a refund if I order the wrong thing?
No. All sales are final — a wrong VIN, the wrong region, the wrong version, or a code you already had. Check the car on screen before you confirm.
